When a system is worn out or just not cutting it anymore, a full conversion install is often the right call. That's exactly what we did here - a Lennox 25 SEER 4-ton unit from the outdoor condenser all the way through the attic air handler and ductwork connections. It's a complete system, and every piece of it matters.
The outdoor condenser is set on a level concrete pad, wired clean, and sitting solid against the house. A 25 SEER rating is genuinely high-efficiency territory. It means the system doesn't have to work nearly as hard to cool the same space - which translates to less wear on the equipment and lower energy draw over time. That's a real difference you feel on your utility bill.
Up in the attic is where the bulk of the work happens on a job like this. The air handler is in, the custom ductwork transitions are fitted and sealed, and the flexible duct runs are connected and routed properly through the framing. Getting these connections right is what separates a system that performs from one that fights itself every time it runs. Poor duct connections kill efficiency fast - so we take our time here.
The custom ductwork fabrication is a big part of what makes this install work. We cut and fit the sheet metal transitions on-site to match the specific layout of the attic. Off-the-shelf pieces don't always cut it in tighter or oddly configured spaces. When the duct geometry is right, airflow is balanced and the system doesn't have to compensate.
A Lennox unit at this spec level is built to last - but only if the installation behind it is done correctly. That means proper refrigerant line routing, clean condensate drain setup, and ductwork that actually moves air the way the system was designed to move it. That's what we focused on with every part of this job.
