Some homes just never feel right. You run the AC or heat, the system sounds like it's working, but certain rooms are always too hot or too cold. A lot of the time, the issue isn't the unit itself - it's the ductwork. Old, deteriorated ducts can't move air the way they're supposed to, and the whole system suffers for it.
That's exactly what we were dealing with on this one. The existing duct system had seen better days. The sheet metal was corroded, the insulation was shot, and the layout wasn't doing the home any favors. We pulled everything out - ceiling sections, old galvanized duct runs, all of it - and started fresh. You can see how bad the old material looked coming out. That kind of deterioration doesn't just hurt comfort, it makes your HVAC system work a lot harder than it should.
Once the tearout was done, we got to work on the custom ductwork installation. We ran new insulated flex duct through the ceiling cavity and tied it into the Lennox furnace with a clean, properly sized connection. The new layout was designed to actually deliver air where it needs to go. Every run sized, every connection tight. That's what custom ductwork is - not just replacing what was there, but building a system that works with the home.
The result was a massive airflow improvement. Rooms that were barely getting any air before are now getting the full benefit of the HVAC system. When the ductwork is right, the whole home feels different. That's the difference between patching something and doing it properly.
If your home has hot and cold spots that never seem to go away, or if your energy bills keep climbing without a clear reason, it might be worth having your duct system looked at. Bad ductwork is one of the most common - and most overlooked - causes of HVAC problems. It's fixable. We do this every day.
